Are you passionate about turning complex data into real-world insights that drive innovative solutions? As our Machine Learning Engineer, you will apply your expertise in AI and machine learning to research, develop and refine models that support digital plant phenotyping. You will build and test prototypes, transforming them into reliable, scalable solutions through data analysis and collaboration to improve our products and create real-world impact.
Main areas of responsibility include:
Collect, preprocess and analyse large datasets to uncover patterns that inform AI model development.
Select, train and fine-tune AI/ML models to extract digital phenotyping data from images, point clouds and other semi-structured data sources.
Rigorously evaluate AI models for accuracy, robustness and reliability, and validate their performance against defined benchmarks.
Deploy AI models into production and monitor their performance, making adjustments as needed.
Support the application science team with expertise in experimental design, statistics and data science.
Maintain thorough documentation to support knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
Stay up to date with AI/ML advancements and actively propose innovative ways to improve existing systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, data scientists,and domain experts to integrate their solutions into our products.
Your profile
We're looking for a highly analytical individual with a strong foundation in both machine learning principles and production-grade software engineering. The ideal candidate is proficient in Python or C++ and ML libraries, has hands-on experience deploying scalable AI models and possesses excellent communication skills for collaborative R&D work.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, AI, machine learning, mathematics, data science or a related field; a PhD is a plus.
Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, techniques, and libraries (e.g.,TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
Experience with selecting and adapting existing models for new problems.
Proficiency in relevant programming languages (Python and C++ preferred).
Solid foundation in software design and architecture.
Experience applying LLMs and coding assistants effectively and responsibly, in line with data disclosure policies.
Able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent verbal and written English communication and documentation skills.
Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
